On December 5th, 2020 I woke up and almost immediately ended up going to the hospital. Blue lips, cold sweats, and a rapid heart beat was concerning enough to not be able to just "sleep it off".
As I fought for my life while COVID fought to take it, I waited for someone to tell me how I ended up there. Why am I 27 years old making a plan for when I die? I was told my heart was going to stop, and made plans for the end of my life. At over 430lbs, consuming whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted (namely Chicken Finger Subs several times per week), and a very sedentary lifestyle, I knew that this contributed to the overwhelming effects of COVID on my body... and at this point COVID was winning.
Then I realized something... my lifestyle had crippled me long before COVID happened.
After 2 weeks in the hospital, receiving double the amounts of medicine than what they normally give, having to live on oxygen and dealing with potential heart failure, I was released from COVID Quarantine on December 23rd, just in time for Christmas!
It was at this point that I started to make drastic changes, and do whatever I needed to do to begin to get healthy. After losing an initial 80lbs, I decided that I didn't want to just lose weight, but I wanted to gain strength as well!
I HATED gyms, I HATED working out or doing anything related. Mostly, I was just afraid of the environment and intimidated by other people who "knew what they were doing" at the gym. I didn't want to go, but I knew that this was something I needed to invest in to myself.
I ended up meeting my trainer and learned that he did appointments from his home garage gym. Immediately I was less apprehensive, and actually even excited to begin working out.
It's been 8 months and between my diet and working with someone who knows how to observe the way someone's body moves and is able to coach good form to gain strength, mobility and overall wellness, I've lost 197lbs.
Over the past year I've learned how to survive with a calorie deficit.
I've learned how to cook and eat clean, whole foods that fuel my body well.
I've learned how to move my body, and move weight well and efficiently without pain.
I've ran more than I ever thought I would, just because I could, including a Half Marathon!
It's been a crazy year, and everything that I once thought impossible has suddenly become possible, and even reality in my life.
So the giveaway...
I can't express enough the gratitude I have for COVID... weird I know, but in my life, COVID pushed me to get healthy.
My hope is that no one has to experience COVID, and it's a terrible thing that our world has had to face.
My other hope is that no one would have to go through what I've gone through to make the changes to improve your life and develop the health and person you were meant to be!
So, I want to help someone. I want to help anyone who has been like me, who has said they can't make it in a gym or they are too intimidated to go to a gym. Someone who says exercise is terrible (honestly it is so fun to get stronger!). But also someone who is sick and tired of being sick and tired!
It has to start somewhere. If you don't like where you are now, it's time to do something different, and getting your nutrition in check, and getting your body moving is key!
To help, I am giving away a full month of training with Avatar Wellness, with Personal Trainer and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Zach Finney. Zach is a professional and has great knowledge in working with any skill set... I was literally starting at zero. Not only that, he specializes in working with people who have had injuries or have other limiting conditions. He doesn't push you till it hurts, he pushes you till it works; and that's a good thing because he cares about you succeeding, but he wants you to be safe. He tailor fits a program to your specific needs and goals and is there every step of the way ensuring proper form, proper spotting, and cheering you on to embody the strongest version of yourself!
So to begin, you will fill out a form below to talk about the vision that you have for your life, your motivation, and why you think you would be a great person to win this giveaway!
The Complete Giveaway Package includes all of the following:
Total Value of over $600!
Entries are required by 12/31/21 by 11:59pm (EST) for review. The winning applicant will be notified privately on 1/2/22.

The winner will be chosen by me (Ben) as I review your answers to the application. I'll be looking for someone who is motivated, and even resembles some of the life that I've lived and troubles that I've faced. But also someone who has vision and shows promise of sticking with it to succeed! You don't have to have all of the answers, but you do have to have the readiness and willingness to work with someone and implement the techniques, work through the challenges, and stick it out to see yourself transform!
You may wonder how a design company correlates to a health giveaway... definitely doesn't seem to fit. And in many ways, you'd be right. But here's the thing, for years I've wanted to do something with graphic design, it's a hobby of mine. But for years I've struggled with staying awake, I've struggled with motivation, and I've struggled with a lot of self doubt. A lot of that came back to my health. It was all I could do to stay awake all day and maintain my full time job, let alone add something else to the mix.
But getting healthy was a dream of my life that was starting to be realized. As that happened, my energy began to increase and has been at a place that I've never experienced before in my life! That led to me realizing other dreams, such as owning a small business.
We've all got dreams and sometimes we shelf those dreams because of the limitations we've put on ourselves. Let 2022 be the year that your dreams begin to be realized, and let it start with your health so that you'll have the energy, focus and drive to realize those other dreams!
*Feel free to send this to someone who you might know would appreciate the opportunity to make the necessary changes in their life!
